David C. Knapp heads Cabaniss Smith Toole & Wiggins, PL's advance motions and appeals group. He received his BSBA degree in Business Computer Science, with High Honors, from the University of Florida in 1987. He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1990. Following graduation, Mr. Knapp began his practice as an associate with the law firm of Rogers & Dowling, P.A., in Orlando, Florida. The firm specialized in insurance defense litigation, insurance coverage issues, personal injury defense, and products liability defense. Mr. Knapp became a partner in 1998, and continued practicing with Rogers, Coleman, Pendas & Knapp, P.A., until joining Cabaniss, Smith, Toole & Wiggins, PL in 2004. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Knapp handled all firm appeals while at Rogers, Coleman, Pendas & Knapp, P.A. and in 2002, he became Board Certified as an Appellate Specialist by the Florida Bar. In 2000 and 2003, Mr. Knapp was invited to speak at the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors "Practicing with Professionalism" Seminars on the topic of appellate practice. From 1996 through 1998, in addition to his civil practice, Mr. Knapp taught Civil Procedure as an adjunct professor at Valencia Community College. He has volunteered his time as a guardian ad litem through the Orange County Legal Aid Society continuously since he began practicing in 1990. In 1996, he received the Legal Aid Society's "Special Recognition Award" for significant pro bono casework by an attorney practicing five years or less. In 2003, he received the Legal Aid Society's "Award of Excellence" for significant pro bono case work on a continuous basis.
